Driving a full-power muscle car like the 2021 Dodge Challenger around Langley may make you desire the total control of manual shifting. However, during everyday trips, that might change to a yearning for the convenience of an automatic. Thankfully, both are available in one package with the TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission.
The T-handle electronic shifter works like an automatic in its standard operating mode, but it also provides the same physical gear positions and tactical feedback as a manual. Or, if you want paddles to flip through speeds, those are available as well and mount conveniently onto the steering wheel.
Then, when total control is desired, change into AutoStick mode, which functions like a manual. Beyond that, this setting also makes for improved handling in tricky conditions and—because there's no clutch pedal—all focus remains on the road the whole time. Plus, if you happen to forget to change gears, the TorqueFlight transmission will up- or downshift by itself to prevent redlining.
But even during fully automatic operation, you can still choose from Track, Default, Sport, and Custom driving modes. They will adjust performance and horsepower settings on the fly to suit all sorts of environments in BC.
