Keeping you and your passengers safe on the streets is a top priority at Ram Trucks. That’s why the new 2021 Ram 3500 Heavy-Duty pickup can be fitted with Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist systems.
Â
While these are two separate functions entirely, they do work in unison as LaneSense to help keep you in your designated lane. Understanding how they are different and how they operate is crucial to preventing accidents on the highway.
Â
First, Lane Departure Warning uses a front-mounted camera to detect the lines on the pavement and the position of your pickup in regards to them. To turn it on, simply press the button located on the Uconnect panel that corresponds with the function. If you begin to drift without activating the turn signal indicator, the component will vibrate the steering wheel in the direction you should go to get back into your place.
Â
Next, Lane Keep Assist will make minor steering adjustments to get the vehicle back to the centre if no action is taken by you. This is designed to prevent side-swiping incidents. Keep in mind that you can make preference changes on the touchscreen interface.
