Early Mazda CX-5 models made headlines for their practicality and adaptability. For 2013, the compact SUV brought a 2.0L 4-cylinder to BC. It had a fuel economy rating of 6.7 L/100 km (hwy). Features like electronically-assisted power steering, a lightweight and rigid body, and optimised suspension helped the vehicle's responsiveness and got the most out of its 155 hp motor. The Mazda CX-5: New Engines in BC, Canada
The Mazda CX-5 took the latest step in its evolution in 2019 by adding a 2.5L turbocharged engine to its lineup. Currently available on GT and Signature trims (and 2021's 100th Anniversary Edition), this 4-cylinder powerhouse delivers 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 100 km/h in just over six seconds. Even with these specs, the fuel economy rating is still 8.7 L/100 km (hwy).
