nissan vehicles for sale in seattle washingtonAccording to a recent press release from Nissan Motor Company, Ltd., the automaker will soon begin building vehicles with a new type of steel, which combines high tensile strength with a previously unachievable degree of formability. This new engineering promises to bring forth a fresh generation of lighter vehicles, which will not only lower emissions but provide improved protection for occupants.

Nissan is the first automaker to employ high-formability steel, which was jointly developed with the Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation. According to the release, “the steel’s combination of stamping formability and strength makes it possible to form parts with complex shapes that are thinner and lighter than those made of conventional high tensile strength steel.” It also provides an enhanced ability to absorb excess energy in a collision, thus improving the safety of the vehicle.

Nissan’s luxury division, INFINITI, currently uses the steel in its QX50 midsize SUV, which is available for sale in the United States. It’s the world’s first vehicle with front and rear side members made from 980-megapascal ultra-high tensile strength steel, along with other body frame parts. Nissan plans to expand the use of the material to more models in an effort to enhance fuel efficiency, as well as driving performance by lowering vehicle weight. This will also help the brand reduce CO2 emissions by 40 percent by 2022, as part of their ongoing sustainability plan.

Recently, Nissan North America celebrated a notable milestone – the company came together to mark the 15th year of their Canton Plant in Mississippi. The first Nissan vehicle officially rolled off the production line on May 27, 2003, and since then, the assembly plant has gone on to manufacture over 4 million cars, trucks, SUVs and vans.

The Canton Plant has also been instrumental in transforming Mississippi into a hub for world-class automotive manufacturing, creating more than 6,500 jobs for team members and more than 25,000 direct and indirect jobs statewide. This year, the plant also added a second shift at the facility, creating 250 hourly jobs, to support increased demand for NV Commercial Vans.

Over the last 15 years, Nissan has been able to give back by donating $15 million in charitable contributions to local community partners, while also facilitating over 8,000 volunteer hours from the Canton team. Not only is the plant an important player in Mississippi’s industry, but community efforts too.

From all of us at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington, we congratulate the Canton team for their milestone of success! To learn more about the vehicles they manufacture, including the Altima, Murano, Titan and more, contact our dealership today for a test drive.

Allow the 2018 Nissan Frontier to indulge your need for comfort.

According to a recent press release, Nissan's half-ton truck delivers what drivers have been clamoring for - exceptional flexibility and utility with interior features that offer outstanding functionality and comfort.

With seating for five passengers across its two-row design, the Frontier is appointed with the choice of unique cloth seats or plush leather, depending on the trim level you choose. Adjustments are made easy with multi-way driver and passenger seats and integrated lumbar supports.

Higher level trims, like the PRO-4Xs and SLs, come equipped with upgraded leather-wrapped steering wheels and shift knobs, which feel nicer as they glide through tired hands. Power-adjustable heated side mirrors are also standard on certain grades, allowing drivers to make quick modifications on the fly without leaving the comfort of the cabin.

And when it comes to legroom, the 2018 Frontier welcomes long limb passengers with up to 42.4-inches in the front and 33.6-inches in the back. Struggles for stretch out space are a thing of the past with this truck.
