The 2021 Mazda3 has something rare in the compact car market: all-wheel drive. This option provides better road grip and makes it easier to handle adverse conditions. A 4x4 drivetrain is optional on the Mazda3 GS and GT, and standard on the 100th Anniversary Edition. It gets paired with a 2.5L Skyactiv I-4 engine. A turbocharged variant that provides up to 250 horsepower comes on the two higher-tier trims.
While AWD does increase fuel consumption, these versions of the 2021 Mazda3 remain quite economical. The standard front-wheel-drive gets 6.6 L/100 km on the highway and 8.7 L/100 km in the city. 4x4 only raises these numbers to 7.4 and 9.5, respectively, and the turbo engine inches them up to 7.5 and 10.1.
AWD is rare in the compact market. Whether Kelowna car shoppers choose it or not, they will get other innovations that make the Mazda3 extremely easy to drive.
