Costa Rica dominates the deep sea scene and 2014 will prove to be no exception.
The 2014 Offshore World Championship, an annual tournament dedicated to catch and release fishing, will once again be held in Quepos, Costa Rica. This tiny seaside town will soon host a wave of anglers and charter crews - all hoping to snatch mighty Marlins, Sailfish and Swordfish from the Pacific.
The Offshore World Championship is the largest fishing competition of its kind. It occurs from April 6 to April 11, flooding the Central coast with hundreds of charter ships and thousands of lines. Participants race to catch as many fish as possible, trying to shatter records and qualify for prizes. It’s a thrilling event and it will brand Quepos - as well as the surrounding areas of Los Suenos, Manuel Antonio and Jaco - as a sport fishing mecca.
