los suenos fishing reportStorms have arrived to Los Suenos, shattering early predications of summer temperatures and affecting the catch quality.

From June 2 to June 9 Los Suenos experienced a series of thunderstorms. The high humidity and frequent lightning proved unlucky for charter crews, with many fish fleeing the surface The catches were sporadic and much of the big-game disappeared.

Reports of Mahi-Mahis and Yellow Fins still prevailed, however, and anglers were able to take advantage of the edible season. These breeds should remain throughout the rest of the month and provide enough excitement. Expect occasional Groupers as well to ensure challenging deep-sea tours.

los suenos fishing reportMay has come to a sunny end, but the wave of big-game fish in Los Suenos is still going strong.

From May 23 to June 1 Costa Rica continued to experience a rise in predator fish. Blue Marlins and Yellow Fins dominated every line, while the appearance of Amberjacks and Triple Tails kept charter crews excited. Calm seas and warm temperatures brought every big-game breed to the surface.

This pattern is expected to continue throughout June. Los Suenos hasn’t yet reached the peak of its Rainy Season and most storms have been limited to the early morning or late evening. The afternoons have remained a perfect balance of current speed, cloud cover and temperature. Anglers are urged to take advantage of this while they can.

los suenos fishing reportLos Suenos is famed for its catch-and-release sports.

During the week of May 15 to May 22, however, edible fishing proved to be the more popular option. Anglers arriving to the Central Pacific found their lines taut and their plates full.

A new wave of Cubera Snappers and Rainbow Runners flooded the Los Suenos shoreline. Charter ships reported staggering numbers of these breeds, with crews and passengers alike barely able to keep up with them. Ones that were caught were fileted to perfection and this led to a tasty boom for local restaurants.

The Snappers and Rainbows are expected to remain in Los Suenos throughout the month of May. Those wishing to catch them should hurry down to the coast.

los suenos fishing reportIt’s the month of exceptional sport fishing.

From May 9 to May 14 Los Suenos continued its pattern of large breeds and deep sea adventures. Charter crews reported high catch-and-release numbers, with many noting an upward average of Billfish. Blue Marlins, Sailfish and Black Marlins were spotted throughout the Pacific; and occasional Mahi-Mahis ensured a big-game balance.

The weather proved perfect as well, with only a scattering of showers in the early mornings and late afternoons. While this will soon change (the Rainy Season will reach its peak in June) anglers are still arriving en-masse to take advantage of the Los Suenos shoreline.

May is destined to be impress.

los suenos fishing reportApril showers may still be pouring, but they’re not bringing May flowers to Los Suenos. They’re instead bringing big game fish.

From the week of May 1 to May 8, Los Suenos anglers experienced a rise in Billfish (specifically Blue Marlins, Sailfish and Black Marlins). Monster catches reigned supreme, and deep sea charters reported solid daily averages.

This rise in large breeds can be attributed to the shifting climate. The Green Season has just begun and its even temperatures prove perfect for Billfish. Expect this migration pattern to continue throughout the month of May.

yellowfin tuna fishing los suenos costa ricaIt was the week of the Yellowfin.

New breeds arrived to Los Suenos, tempting inshore and off-shore anglers alike with steady hauls and challenging reel-ins.

From April 20 to April 25 Los Suenos experienced a swell of Yellowfin Tuna. These creatures stayed near the coast, forcing most charters to maneuver through the reefs and rocks. The effort proved worthwhile, however, as crews captured fish after fish.

Near-shore anglers weren't the only ones with jumping lines, however. Those sailing away from the marina instead discovered schools of Sailfish and Tuna, ensuring some exciting catches. The averages were slightly lower than previous months, but dropping temperatures always have that effect. The totals should rise after the Rainy Season passes.

los suenos fishing reportLast week records were shattered throughout Los Suenos. The Offshore World Championship brought hundreds of anglers and thousands of lines, and the frantic pace led to some truly remarkable catches.

During the week of April 11 to April 19, however, the fishing in Los Suenos dropped to a more sedate standard. There were fewer ships in the water and many migration patterns changed, with Blue Marlins, Black Marlins and other large breeds steering themselves away from the coast. Anglers arriving for some Springtime sporting still found themselves impressed, though.

Roosterfish and Mahi-Mahis proved to be the most popular breeds this week. Charters reported steady hauls and every day yielded an average of fifteen catches per expedition. This combined with high temperatures and strong breezes for vacation-worthy experiences.

The rainy season is soon to begin and many anglers may fear a decrease in fish. This year has been exceptional, however, and Los Suenos should be able to survive the storms.

los suenos igfa fishing tournamentThe International Game Fame Association (IGFA)’s World Championship Tournament has arrived to Los Suenos - and records are being shattered this season.

On April 6 the Offshore Tournament began, with charter crews seeking out Blue Marlins, Sailfish and more. They found them, with almost 800 billfish snagged on just the first day! That surpasses the total amount of fish caught and released during all of last year’s event.

As the tournament has continued ships like the Dream Maker and Los Suenos have tallied high totals, with 826 Sailfish, 18 Dorados and 3 Blue Marlins snatched on April 8 alone.

This fishing season is proving to be exceptional and, as the IGFA World Championship comes to a close, Costa Rica Fishing Adventures knows that other records are sure to be broken.

los suenos fishing reportMarch is coming to an end but the fishing in Los Suenos proves better than ever. Steady catches and rising temperatures have made this a Spring to remember.

From March 23 to March 28 anglers experienced exceptional fishing. Both in-shore and near-shore fans reported high numbers, with charter tours averaging almost 50 fish per trip. Jack Crevalles and Sailfish dominated every deck, and occasional Blue Marlins appeared to add some excitement as well.

Powerful North winds arrived early in the week, creating choppy waters and less than ideal sailing conditions. They quickly passed, however, and all fish celebrated by arriving to the surface. A feeding frenzy awaited every angler.
