The announcement of the first Los Suenos Signature Triple Crown series was met with much excitement in 2013. Anglers across the globe readied their rods in anticipation, and the Central Pacific prepared for an onslaught of deep sea and near-shore expeditions.
Those preparations weren’t enough - because the 2014 Los Suenos Signature Triple Crown shattered records again and again.
According to the Tico Times, the first leg of this race boasted over 90 catches per hour. Forty two teams raced though the Pacific, snagging Marlins, Sailfish and other creatures. This pace was incredible and refused to slow, even as the second and third legs began.
By the end of the series, over 2,100 fish had been caught (and released, as required by Costa Rican law). This created a success rate of over 50%, a number previously thought impossible. Joint efforts between the teams resulted in the most successful fishing tournament in Los Suenos’ history.
This is certain to secure another series in 2015.
