Dear Robert,
I’ve noticed that my 2018 Nissan Rogue has started misfiring. I’ve heard that this could be due to a problem with the timing belt: what do you think?
Thanks,
Denise
Hi, Denise!
A lot of things could cause your 2018 Nissan Rogue to misfire, so I can’t say with certainty what the issue is. But it could be down to a problem with your timing belt.
The timing belt is attached to the pulleys that move your car's camshaft and crank.
If your timing belt has worn out, it could slip on the camshaft. This may cause one cylinder to open or close too early.
If your cylinders are opening or closing at the wrong time the result will be a misfire. This lowers your fuel economy in the short term but, further down the line, it could cause major engine damage and a costly bill.
Regardless of what’s causing your Rogue to misfire, you need to get it checked out. I recommend calling over to our Service Department and letting the Technicians have a look.
Thanks for the question, Denise! Don’t hesitate to contact Kirkland Nissan, Washington if you ever need anything else.
