It’s a great milestone for Nissan fans across North America, but especially those working the lines at the Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant in Mississippi. After months of preparation, the official production of the all-new 2019 Altima has finally commenced. This moment not only celebrates the arrival of the sixth-generation sedan, but also the culmination of 15 years of manufacturing at the plant, which has produced four million Nissan vehicles to date.
Fall has finally come to Issaquah - and early morning commuters are readying themselves for the cold. Soon the weather will turn frightful, lashing out with sharp winds and stinging rains; and leaving the comfort of a living room will seem too much to bear.
The name makes you pause - VC-Turbo. Such an engine will deliver speed, you’re sure, but not economy. It will demand endless drops of fuel to satisfy its four-cylinder hunger, and you quickly walk away before the want of power overwhelms the need for efficiency.
In June 1992, the first Nissan Altima rolled off the production lines at their automaker’s Smyrna, Tennessee Assembly Plant. Since then, that number has ballooned to 4.6 million midsize sedans.
