Recently the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (an independent organization that establishes benchmarks for collision prevention) pitted the Altima against its rigorous obstacle course - forcing it to endure brutal front, side, and rear crashes. It tested deceleration responses on slick tracks; it pushed avoidance technologies to the limit; and it demanded much from airbag and restraint systems. There was no mercy given to the platformâ€¦ or the unfortunate test-dummies seated within.
