The thought comes suddenly - a rush of words and worry. Is the car charged? You scowl against your pillow, searching your memory for the answer. Did you plug-in the port when you came home from work? Will the battery be ready for the morning? These questions blitz through your mind, followed by a nagging sense of doubt; and you… sigh, knowing that there will be no sleep until you check.

Nissan urges you to stay in bed - and reach instead for your phone.

As the NY Daily News explains, Nissan seeks to simplify the performance process - fusing its 2018 LEAF with an exclusive tech service. It delivers a direct connection between the hatchback and the driver’s phone, creating a custom app suite that provides real-time responses. Press a button to access comprehensive vehicle information (all streamed digitally to Apple or Android interfaces):

Remaining Drive-Range - this NissanConnect tool will monitor the battery, noting how many miles its current change levels can yield.

Plug-In Reminders - the system will notify drivers of low power levels and when to charge their batteries.

Automated Power - this application can be programed to initiate the charge process, with the LEAF’s port system identifying off-peak electricity rate hours and drawing energy more efficiently from the home.

Completion Notices - the system will alert users when the battery is fully charged, sparing them the need to repeatedly check the port.

With the release of the 2018 LEAF, Nissan embraces convenience: allowing drivers to devote their thoughts to more than energy levels. Utilize this Connect service (which is available for free for the first six months of ownership) to take control of every lithium-ion cell.
