In January Ford shook the Seattle streets with a promise of F-Series performance. Its 2019 Ranger Raptor would soon arrive, and it would bring a cloud of V8 exhaust with it. This sport-tuned beast would serve as the ultimate all-terrain option, delivering class-leading performance (335 HP).

How could any automotive brand compete with such a monster? What could possibly be done?

Nissan thinks it has the solution - the 2018 NP300 Navara.

According to Motor Authority, Nissan is considering bringing its 2018 NP300 to Seattle. This platform - which currently boasts a 4.0L V6 capable of generating 261 HP and 281 lb.-ft of torque - could serve as a strong alternative to the Ranger Raptor, connecting drivers to potent mid-size power. Its muscular body (measuring 219-inches long, 79-inches wide, and 73-inches high) can accommodate every off-road demand, blending a seven-speed automatic transmission with a shift-on-the-fly 4WD. This ensures seamless low-to-high gear transitions, crisply adapting to changing terrains; while an electronic locking rear differential promotes balanced traction distribution between the wheels.

When these elements combine, they allow the 2018 NP300 to achieve a 6,500-pound trailering ratio - and they ensure that it can easily keep pace with the Ranger Raptor. Should Nissan decide to bring this truck to Seattle, we’re certain that drivers will prove very receptive.
