When it comes to performance, the Blue Oval doesn’t embrace a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, the manufacturer engineers its medium-duty trucks with tailored power by offering a range of engine options to suit different commercial applications.
The 2022 Chassis Cab F-550 XL – which is available from Skaha Ford in BC – is no exception. With two blocks to choose from, including gas and diesel variants, fleet managers can equip their trucks with the power generation they need:
Â
Standard 7.3L V8 Gas Engine
Designed for strenuous duty and hauling heavy loads, the 350-hp 7.3L V8 gas engine features diesel-like durability, performance and power with 468 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with variable-camshaft timing, this cast-iron block reaches peak power with an optimal air-fuel ratio in the low rpm range to provide the responsiveness and muscle commercial operators require.
6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel Engine
The third-generation 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine features a 36,000-psi fuel-injection system and forged-steel pistons, which optimize combustion, provide precise throttle responses and create less friction for increased durability. A turbocharger with fully electronic actuation ensures cold-weather performance while an air induction system promotes ventilation. The result is a responsive diesel block with 330 hp and 825 lb-ft of torque.
The 2022 F-550 delivers customized performance to all types of fleets. To learn more about this chassis cab’s powertrain options or to find out about our medium-duty truck services, contact Skaha Ford in BC for details.
