Latest Ford News In Penticton BC
In our most recent “Latest News” post, we spoke about the excitement generated around the new Mustang Mach-E, the all-electric SUV that's set to shake up the segment later this year. However, the Mach-E isn’t the only new 2021 ‘Stang on the way, and for those looking for a more traditional pony car, you won’t be able to go wrong with the Mach 1.

The new 2021 Mach 1 eschews electric or hybrid fanciness; instead, Ford relies on tried-and-true magic. This is an old-school sports machine in a familiar package—a fastback coupe that is set to thrill with a conventional gasoline 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces a wild 480 horses at 7,000 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,600 rpm. Thanks to the incredible handling, this pony car is as impressive whipping around turns as it is shooting down straightaways, and purists will experience a shiver of delight as they operate the standard six-speed manual transmission.

It’s been 17 years since the Mach 1 has seen the shores of either Canada or the U.S., and we can’t wait for this limited-edition machine to arrive in spring 2021.

It’s almost here. A new challenger to the pony car throne is coming, and this edition packs unbelievable power.

Well, let’s revise that statement—the limited-edition 2021 Mustang Mach 1 is more of a glorious return than an entirely new entrant. There’s been a 17-year hiatus in Canada and the U.S. for this souped-up sports machine, and let us tell you, for enthusiast drivers, it’s been sorely missed.

If you’ve always found yourself feeling the need for speed, the new Mach 1 is for you. This fastback coupe is scheduled to arrive this upcoming spring with a 5.0-liter V8 engine that creates a blow-your-hair-back 480 horses at 7,000 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,600 rpm. The entire car has been designed with superb aerodynamics and handling in mind, too—and perhaps best of all, it arrives with a standard six-speed manual transmission with rev matching.

Today, as a nod to their historic Le Mans win in 1966, the company revealed two limited edition 2021 GTs—the ‘Heritage’ and the ‘Studio.’ Let’s tackle the former first.

The 2021 Ford GT Heritage Edition specifically commemorates the company’s first-ever 24-hour win by their GT40 Mark II at the Daytona endurance race in 1966 (four months later, all three of those vehicles took the top three spots at Le Mans). This new Heritage vehicle celebrates the past with a carbon-fiber hood, ’98’ side graphic, 'Frozen White’ exterior paint, and 20-inch gold-colored aluminum wheels with red lacquered Brembo monoblock brake calipers.

The exterior’s ‘Race Red’ accents on the roof, front fascia, driver’s door, and rear wing are matched by anodized red paddle shifters and Alcantara suede performance seats on the interior. Alcantara is also featured on the steering wheel’s rim, the instrument panel, and the headliner.

The 2021 GT will see delivery beginning early next year. Have questions or want to purchase a Mustang in the interim? Give us a call at Skaha Ford!

Let’s talk about handling. The Mustang Mach 1 is endowed with a handling package that comes with the Tremec™ 3160 6-speed manual transmission for incredibly enjoyable on-road experiences (this fastback coupe also offers the option of a 10-speed automatic). The stick shift setup, however, also comes with new front wheel lip moldings, rear tire spats from the Shelby GT500, a low-gloss magnetic swing spoiler, and a higher downforce front splitter. Fantastic, right?

Of course, it won’t just feel good to drive the Mach 1—you’ll be looking good, too. The pony car comes with a refreshed front fascia and grilles that also deliver enhanced aerodynamics and cooling. Plus, the side-body stripes and hood sport reflective surfaces, and black accents are abundant.
