This number proves Costa Rica’s growing presence throughout the world. According to the National Tourism Board, the country has experienced tremendous growth within the last four years, attracting 15.6% more tourists than previous decades. This statistic is certain to expand in 2014.

A recent tournament announcement, however, proves that its popularity will soon extend to fairway fans.

The Links and Laces event is coming to Los Suenos. This golf tournament, as reported by the Costa Rican Times, is world renowned, attracting professional and amateur sportsmen alike. It features two-man teams, all vying for prestigious titles and undeniable prizes. 

The Los Suenos Marriott is an ideal location for this event. Its famed La Iguana course boasts almost 7,000 yards of lush lanes, sandy bunkers and cliffside holes. It’s a Par 72 stretch that can vex even the most experienced players, and the Links and Laces crowd will have to bring their best putters to win.

The Links and Laces tournament is scheduled from February 15 through February 17. Early registration is recommended to secure a spot, and golfers in need of accommodations and transportation should book those in advance as well.

Subject: 2013 Billabong Surf Contest Concludes At Jaco

los suenos costa ricaJaco has forever been a center of surfing. Its high breaks and steady currents tempt sportsmen from across the globe. The 2013 Billabong Festival de Surf brought a new wave of travelers to this small town's sandy shores, however.

The Costa Rican Times reports that 135 of Latin America’s most famed surfers competed in the Billabong Festival from November 9 to November 10. Strong showings from contenders like Gary Saavedra, Diego Cadena and Gilbert Brown thrilled the 5,000 attendees. It was Jaco local Luis Vindas who eventually claimed the top prize, however. He managed a staggering 19.50 score, dominating every a-frame and double-up.

Pacific waves weren’t the only attractions at the 2013 Billabong Festival. Singer Donavon Frankenreiter and his Ojo de Buey band also entertained the crowds with an exclusive marina concert.
