Dear Robert,
I’ve just picked up a 2019 Nissan 370Z and my friend suggested that I fit it with braided lines. Is this something I should consider? What would the benefits be?
Thanks,
Andy
Hi, Andy!
Congratulations on picking up the new 2019 Nissan 370Z, it’s a fantastic machine. Braided lines do offer some performance benefits over conventional hoses: let me explain.
The outer wall of a braided line is made from stainless steel which makes it more durable but also expensive. The standard hoses which come on most vehicles are rubber.
The inner wall of these hoses is comprised of Tefl, this means they expand a far less than their rubber counterparts. This translates to a firmer pedal with more feedback and, ultimately, better braking.
The other big advantage braided lines have over rubber ones is that they’re practically bulletproof. Although they could succumb to a pinprick leak, it’s quite rare.
The braking system on the 2019 370Z is already extremely good, so whether or not you feel the need to upgrade is entirely your choice.
Thanks for the question, Andy! Please don’t hesitate to contact Kirkland Nissan, Washington again if you need anything else.
