Style has come to the crossover market - with Nissan delivering a striking design for its 2018 Armada Platinum Reserve. This platform has been thoroughly refreshed, and from every angle it now dazzles. Prepare, Seattle, for a new kind of luxury.

According to Nissan, the 2018 Armada Platinum Reserve will thrill every driver - yielding none of the expected bulky lines and dull color palettes. Instead the brand has transformed this platform, offering sophisticated detailing on both the fascia and cabin:

Exterior

The new Platinum Reserve sits on 20-inch wheels. Dark chrome trim frames the grille, while wide air intake vents showcase the sculpted fenders. Black roof rails highlight the tall C-Pillars, creating a striking contrast to the seven available metallic colors (including Forged Copper and Pearl White).

Interior

Nissan enhances the Armada’s cabin with two-tone leather-appointed seating (which pairs plush bolsters with contrast stitching). Black quartz accents showcase the center stack, while premium woodgrain trims add a chic effect. Custom badging is also embossed into the dash, reminding drivers of their Platinum choice.

Terror demands only an instant - with your car’s wheels spinning and your heart racing. A distracted press of the pedal sent you flying around a corner; and now you’re skidding across black ice, watching the world blur beyond. The seconds seem to suspend… until you finally come to a halt, shaken but unharmed.

Nissan knows that driver error is far too common. This is why it’s paired the 2018 Armada SL with the Premium Package - a collection of automated technologies to defend against collisions.

As Nissan recently explained, the Premium Package transforms the 2018 SL from crossover to protector. Intelligent Cruise Control anchors the platform, utilizing sensors to monitor road conditions. If the system senses potential concerns - such as lane deviations or the sudden appearance of pedestrians - it will automatically slow speeds, applying the brakes as needed to avoid an accident. Blind spot warnings deliver superior traffic tracking, instantly alerting drivers to approaching vehicles; while the back-up intervention feature brings high-definition support, linking to the Around View console for 360-degree perspectives. Integrated radar scanners further bolster responses, assessing the velocity of surrounding cars to estimate the likelihood of a crash.

With help from the Premium Package - and the Nissan airbag suite, which includes front seat-mounted, curtain, and dual-stage supplemental inflatables - drivers can better defend against highway mistakes, experiencing real-time monitoring and automated performance. Control every mile with ease.

The view proves obscure - a collection of awkward headrest angles and sloping C-Pillars, the tall stacks of cargo. You twist in your seat, trying to find a sliver of daylight between the cabin chaos; but every window is blocked. There’s no way to gauge distance or lane position. You’re… stuck.

Nissan sympathizes. More importantly, however, it also offers a solution - pairing its 2018 Armada Platinum with I-RVM technology.

According to a press release, the 2018 Armada Platinum has been tailored for efficiency. Anchoring its cabin is an Intelligent Rear View Mirror (I-RVM) that promises 360-degree clarity. Utilizing both a high-resolution camera and LCD pixels, this system can quickly illuminate every position - showcasing any potential obstacles, including: passing cars, pedestrians, or parking garage poles. Real-time feeds are sent to a central monitor, enabling drivers to quickly assess the road; and audio cues are released if threats are sensed.

To further enhance visibility, Nissan also pairs the 2018 Armada Platinum with an I-RVM inspired design. The rear headrests have been lowered to create a seamless sight-line, while cargo can now be stored more efficiently in the bay (thanks to the inclusion of flat-folding seats and custom containers). The lift-gate glass has also been expanded to provide a larger range of vision, ensuring that drivers can easily monitor their surroundings.

Middling performance defines the crossover market - with hulking platforms burdened by their heavy weights and massive axles. They’re engineered for brute force, not speed; and their power rarely adapts to suburban roadways.

The 2018 Armada Platinum Reserve will change this - delivering a robust V8 experience for all drivers. Prepare to fly down every lane, Seattle.

According to a recent Nissan press release, the 2018 Armada Platinum will transition from the backroads to the byways - with its 5.6L Endurance V8 engine generating a mighty 390 HP and 394 lb.-ft of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission utilizes Downshift Rev Matching to ensure synchronized gear movements, creating a fluid ride; while a self-leveling rear suspension accommodates payloads and inclines with equal ease, instantly adjusting its alignment to distribute traction. Intelligent 4WD further enhances each mile, allowing the platform to smoothly maneuver across every surface.

These elements brand the 2018 Armada Platinum Reserve a beast on any road - and they work in perfect tandem to ensure best-in-class speed. This crossover reaches a top MPH ratio of 133, and it sails from 0 to 60 in a mere 5.9 seconds. Bigger truly can be better in Seattle.

It’s a tradition of dull lines - with the electric market defined by bulky plastics and unforgiving vinyls. Great efficiency demands a sacrifice of design, and drivers resign themselves to hastily crafted cabins.

Nissan thinks it’s time for a change - which is why it’s offering Seattle families the sleek style they crave, bolstering its 2018 LEAF S with a brand-new interior! Let’s take a peek inside.

Open the door of the 2018 LEAF S and smile. The days of bland design are gone - with this all-electric platform boasting plush cloth seating (which, as Kelley Blue Book notes, delivers metallic-inspired coloring and available contrast stitching). The soft-materials of the dashboard and center stack console feature a taupe-scheme, while a seven-inch instrument gauge offers vivid LCD lighting. A slick rotary-style transmission provides a retro-touch, and aluminum accents are found throughout.

Nissan believes that variety is the spice of life - which is why it’s fused the 2018 LEAF S with several distinct color options. Drivers can create a custom cabin by choosing: Light Gray, Solid Black, or Black and Blue.

With the release of the 2018 LEAF, Nissan allows drivers to achieve mid-size styling in the EV market. To learn more about the S' available cabin features contact our team today.

In January Ford shook the Seattle streets with a promise of F-Series performance. Its 2019 Ranger Raptor would soon arrive, and it would bring a cloud of V8 exhaust with it. This sport-tuned beast would serve as the ultimate all-terrain option, delivering class-leading performance (335 HP).

How could any automotive brand compete with such a monster? What could possibly be done?

Nissan thinks it has the solution - the 2018 NP300 Navara.

According to Motor Authority, Nissan is considering bringing its 2018 NP300 to Seattle. This platform - which currently boasts a 4.0L V6 capable of generating 261 HP and 281 lb.-ft of torque - could serve as a strong alternative to the Ranger Raptor, connecting drivers to potent mid-size power. Its muscular body (measuring 219-inches long, 79-inches wide, and 73-inches high) can accommodate every off-road demand, blending a seven-speed automatic transmission with a shift-on-the-fly 4WD. This ensures seamless low-to-high gear transitions, crisply adapting to changing terrains; while an electronic locking rear differential promotes balanced traction distribution between the wheels.

When these elements combine, they allow the 2018 NP300 to achieve a 6,500-pound trailering ratio - and they ensure that it can easily keep pace with the Ranger Raptor. Should Nissan decide to bring this truck to Seattle, we’re certain that drivers will prove very receptive.

All-new 2018 models of the Armada have been making their way into our showroom at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington, and this full-size SUV is becoming a fast favorite with customers. For one, shoppers love the Armada for its huge cabin and cavernous cargo area, but there's another feature that's generating a lot of buzz - and that's Nissan's Intelligent Rear View Mirror (I-RVM).

Upon first glances, the I-RVM looks the same as a traditional rear view mirror, but it also sports a built-in LCD monitor that is activated by pushing a button. When the mirror is turned on, the monitor provides an expanded field of view from the high-performance, narrow-angle camera, which is located at the back of the vehicle. Even in low-spectrum conditions, the I-RVM can help drivers feel more confident while maneuvering in busy parking lots or in traffic, or it can be activated while driving.

According to a recent article by Auto Express, Nissan will be spending more time and money reimagining and reinventing the interior designs of their vehicles over the next few years. The reason is two-fold: the approaching arrival of autonomous cars, which will not require traditional controls, and the growth in the electric vehicle segment.

In the interview, Mamoru Aoki, Nissan's Executive Design Director, said the brand's vehicle interiors will change dramatically with certain elements arriving as soon as the Nissan IMx electric compact SUV makes its debut in 2020. When Nissan unveiled the concept at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, it featured a retractable steering wheel, which speaks to the automaker's forward thinking.

And with autonomous vehicles expected to take the tedium out of daily commuting for motorists, more focus will need to be placed on the interiors of vehicles, versus the driving dynamics of the past. Occupants will more likely notice the quality and details found in the cabin and expect a heightened experience. As well, the advent of electric vehicles is allowing Nissan to break the mold. Without the need for bulky engines and exhaust systems, there is more opportunity to redesign vehicle interiors with a focus on simple shapes, higher caliber materials and passenger-centric cabins.

Knowing Nissan, it will only be a matter of time before they debut their innovative and industry-shaking designs. To learn more about how the automaker is changing how cars are powered, driven and integrated into society, contact our team at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington.
Word on the street is that an all-new Nissan Altima is coming for the 2019 model year and it has Seattle area sedan shoppers very excited. The redesigned vehicle will debut next month at the 2018 New York International Auto Show, which is scheduled for March 28.

This will be the sixth generation for the Altima, which hasn't been revamped since 2013. A top-secret prototype was spotted last summer and Nissan also previewed the design with the Vmotion 2.0 concept car at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Industry insiders don't have any concrete details to share about the next-gen Altima, but some are speculating that the sedan will keep much of its current foundation with some variations. There is talk about a four-cylinder powerplant, as well as the possibility of V6 and hybrid options for drivers wanting increased performance or better fuel economy. Front-wheel drive with CVT is expected to be the standard setup, though some automotive journalists have said that an all-wheel-drive option might be available too. There is also some speculation that Nissan will include some of its ProPilot technologies on the 2019 Altima as well.

Only time will tell what's in store for the next model year. We are eagerly awaiting news from the upcoming New York International Auto Show and will be sure to provide updates as they are released.

The Nissan Motor Corporation recently announced that its best-selling electric vehicle, the Leaf, has earned a five-star safety rating from the Japan New Car Assessment Program. This is the highest rating possible that an automobile can be awarded.

The zero-emission Leaf scored 94.8 points out of a possible 100 for occupant safety in a collision. The program is run by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the National Agency for Automotive Safety and Victims' Aid.

According to Nissan, the 2018 Leaf offers a host of standard safety features, which contributed to the EV's five-star rating. They include a highly rigid body structure, six SRS airbags, seats with enforced headrests and back frames, and seat belts with pre-tensioners and load-limiting capabilities for the front and rear outboard seating positions. The Leaf is also equipped with a number of advanced technologies, including ProPilot for autonomous single-lane driving on highways, ProPilot Park autonomous parking, and e-Pedal, which lets drivers accelerate and brake by operating only the accelerator pedal.

The next-gen Leaf also passed the Japan New Car Assessment Program's electric shock protection trial with flying colors, which tests to see how well a vehicle protects occupants from being shocked in a collision. The EV's highly protective battery case, layout and body structure performed extremely well by shielding passengers from high-voltage parts. The car is also equipped with a high-voltage cut-off device that activates in a collision, thus offering additional security.
