The 2019 Leafâ€™s trophy case is growing! The worldâ€™s best-selling electric vehicle was recently honoured with Kelley Blue Bookâ€™s 2019 5-Year Cost to Own Award in the EV segment, which was presented to Nissan at the Chicago Auto Show. This is the Leafâ€™s second year in a row to win this award, proving that the zero emissions platform is not only good for the environment, but driversâ€™ wallets too.

To determine winners, KBB scoured data for all new models for the first five years of ownership, assessing factors such as depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees. The 2019 Leaf beat out other popular all-electric platforms, including the Kia Soul EV and the Chevy Bolt, with a 5-Year Cost to Own figure of $35,321.

Now in its second generation, the Leaf delivers greater range, a dynamic new design and the latest in Nissan's Intelligent Mobility technologies to drivers. Running on a 147-horsepower motor that generates 236 lb-ft of torque, the 2019 Leaf boasts a range of 150 miles on a single charge. Later this year, a new Leaf PLUS will join the EVâ€™s line-up and it promises an increased range of 226 miles, which certainly sweetens the vehicleâ€™s value proposition.
