Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) need outlets to charge successfully. If you purchase one of these autos, such as the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, what should you expect when it comes to replenishing the battery?Some drivers will be able to take care of all their needs using a Level 1 charger. With this option, you can plug your PHEV into a standard 120-volt home electrical outlet. The drawback is that you have to connect the battery overnight.Â
Level 2 chargers use a 240-volt outlet. These decrease the empty-to-full time to about two hours for hybrids. Mopar offers this type of product as an add-on for Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, and Jeep EVs and PHEVs.Â
Public high-speed units can cut the process to 25 minutes or less. However, these are impractical for home use.
