Having a fully electric vehicle wasn’t enough for Nissan. Their innovative engineers had to push the envelop further to create an even more efficient model. The 2013 Leaf SV features a hybrid heater system that consumes less power than previous versions.
Conventional automobiles re-use engine exhaust to warm the interior. The Leaf offers a different solution. Utilizing the temperature difference between a refrigerant and the outside air, this enables the mechanism to make the cabin hotter with compression and use up less energy.
Ranked as the #7 Compact Car by U.S. & World Report, the 2013 Leaf has already wiggled its way into our hearts. Its 80-kilowatt motor is coupled with a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that produces 107 HP and 187 pound-feet of torque. This nifty hatchback has a driving range of 75 miles and includes a 6.6 kW cable that can replenish the depleted stores up to 80% in just 30 minutes.
The SV trim level adds 16-inch alloy wheels and cruise control for a more relaxing ride. The seats are covered in partially recycled cloth material, and the six-speaker stereo delivers high-quality audio.
