Itâ€™s an obscure view. You peer around a bulky A-Pillar, trying to gauge the distance between your car and the curb. Your neck strains; your eyes squint; andâ€¦ you still canâ€™t determine just how many inches separate you from a sudden collision.

Allow the Nissan Altima to help.

According to My San Antonio, the 2019 Altima SV delivers intuitive support to drivers - with Nissan fusing it with an Automatic Rear Braking system. Radar sensors flank the back bumper, releasing GPS-refined signals to asses the surrounding terrain. Absurdity reigns supreme of social streams - with users inundated with endless gifs, clips, and random musings. Hours are wasted wading through the virtual chaos each day.

Nissan proves, however, that there is value in tweeting - because the 2018 Armada Mountain Patrol has arrived.

According to CNET, Nissan has launched a unique automotive experience - allowing its social media followers to design an entire crossover! The 2018 Armada Mountain Patrol (a concept vehicle that will soon begin the circuit rounds) was pieced together by driver input. Men and women flooded the Twitter-sphere with a series of off-road suggestionsâ€¦ and these were then implemented into the ultimate all-terrain option.

The Mountain Patrol rests on 17-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. Its sport-tuned suspension delivers a nine-inch ground clearance (allowing the platform to propel itself over every terrain), while rock sliders protect the sides from debris. Steel bumpers anchor the front and rear; an LED light-bar cuts through the dark; and a hefty 12,000-pound winch frames the back, allowing drivers to effortlessly connect to every Class IV trailer.

To further impress, this ArmadaÂ also features a Lowrance navigation system - which delivers turn-by-turn route planning and real-time environmental monitoring to ensure seamless travels. Drivers can easily interface with this suite via the eight-inch LCD touchscreen, taking advantage of its streaming forecasts, traffic alerts, and gridline support.

Itâ€™s an all too familiar rhythm - with your car stopping-starting-stalling its way down the lane. You jerk constantly in your seat, unable to fight against the friction; and a simple commute becomes an unwanted thrill-ride.

Nissan seeks to change this - planning a fully autonomous experience by 2020.

According to the NY Daily News, Nissan intends to bolster its fleet with the ProPilot system - an automated suite that utilizes advanced radar sensors and high-definition cameras to monitor traffic patterns. Speed and lane trajectories are carefully assessed, and then the steering column is engaged to ensure smooth handling in stop-and-go scenarios. All acceleration is intuitively controlled to provide a refined cabin experience.

Currently, the ProPilot is only available in select platforms (including the Rogue and LEAF). Soon, however, it will anchor more than 20 vehicles - with Nissan intending to improve the highway experience for every driver. By 2020 this suite will deliver speed moderation and total transmission control to the: Altima, Armada, X-Trail, and more (a full list should be revealed by the end of the summer).

This will assure superior handling on the road - with drivers able to rely on Intelligent Cruise Control (which provides custom speed settings) to simplify their travels. The ProPilot system, according to Nissan, is intended to reduce stress and increase performance; and its seamless steering and ABS engagements brand it ideal for fickle traffic.

If you drive an older model Leaf all-electric vehicle and are looking to replace the battery pack, youâ€™ll be pleased to hear that Nissan will be offering rebuilt packs this month.

Currently, the refurbished power cells are only available in Japan; however, Nissan is investigating whether or not they can expand the program to the United States. Based on data from Green Car Reports, the cost for each rebuilt pack is $2,850 in Japan, which is more economical than replacing with a new battery at $6,500.

At the moment, Nissanâ€™s program only covers 24-kWh batteries, but the automaker does have plans to begin recycling 30- and 40-kWh batteries, which are found in newer model year Leaf EVs and boast a longer range.

According to Nissan, their new battery recycling plant in Naime, Japan, is the first such factory recycling lithium-ion batteries. Naime is the region devastated by the earthquake and tsunami that melted down nuclear reactors in Fukushima. The plant will also recycle batteries from forklifts and large-scale storage systemsÂ and turn used electric car batteries into power plants for other industrial uses.

According to a recent press release, Nissan is planning to expand its innovative ProPILOT Assist semi-autonomous driving system to additional models. The first U.S. Nissan to have the equipment added is the Rogue Sport, beginning in late 2018.

To date, ProPILOT Assist is offered on more than 120,000 vehicles sold around the world with customers taking a fast liking to the technology. Expanding the semi-autonomous driving system to other Nissan models, like the Rogue Sport, is only going to continue to grow. Additional vehicles will adopt the technology, expanding to 20 models and 20 markets within the next four years. This is all part of the automaker's midterm plan, dubbed Nissan M.O.V.E. to 2022.

"ProPILOT Assist is an iconic technology for Nissan Intelligent Mobility, [our] vision of how vehicles are powered, driven and integrated into society," said Philippe Klein, Nissan's Chief Planning Officer. "Its acceptance by consumers has been beyond expectations, and we're pleased to expand its availability to more popular models, such as Altima, X-Trail and Rogue Sport."

The rule is simple - if itâ€™s not broke, donâ€™t fix it. Critics and drivers seek always to preserve their beloved engines, reveling in every familiar rumble and transmission shift. Change, they feel, is dangerous. It puts each rev at risk, potentially stripping away torque and lessening horsepower. When perfection has been achieved cease all production strategies.

Nissan - respectfully - disagrees.

According to STL Today, the 2019 Altima will soon arrive in Washingtonâ€¦ and itâ€™s bringing a new engine with it. Nissan has fitted this sedan with a 2.5L inline-four. This powerpoint combines natural aspiration (which yields steady performance, sparing drivers the frustration of turbo-lag) with a lightweight aluminum design (the casing is now more efficient, demanding less fuel to reach the redline). Approximately 80% of the entire block has been revised; and this has ensured premium capability, with this sedan generating 188 HP and 180 lb.-ft of torque.

Still wary of change? Nissan reminds drivers that the 2019 Altimaâ€™s predecessor offered only 179 HP and 177 lb.-ft of torque. Even the redline has been improved, extending to 4000 RPM with every shift of the X-Tronic automatic transmission. This mid-size model (which now boasts monotube rear shocks to deliver balanced handling on each terrain) is ready to fly.
