Nissan News
Latest Nissan News For Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
It’s a dull design - punctuated by bulky lines and bland curves, with only the meagerest hint of chrome to sustain it. You scowl at a hybrid, wondering why you must sacrifice style for value.

Nissan believes you shouldn't have to - which is why it’s paired the 2018 LEAF with dynamic V-Motion design.

As The Detroit News explains, the 2018 LEAF defies style conventions - with Nissan delivering a bold V-Motion grille. This perfectly anchors the front, yielding a deep arch and fluid chrome lines. It rises from the flat-bodied chassis, melding directly into the hood; and it creates a bullet-like nose that redefines the hybrid market. Custom badging sits in its center, surrounded by three-dimensional paneling; while subtle blue accents contrast sharply to the monochromatic moldings. The result is an unforgettable profile, elevating this platform from EV to extraordinary.

The value of the V-Motion grille extends beyond design, however. It also bolsters the 2018 LEAF with aerodynamic performance, effortlessly diffusing air to reduce overall drag. This allows the platform to achieve a 0 to 60 run of just 7.6-seconds - proving that style and speed can finally combine.

Economy may prove the driving force of every hybrid - but Seattle drivers remain unimpressed by MPG ratios and lithium power levels. The need for safety instead reigns supreme. These hatchbacks must impress on the highway, rather than at the pump.

Nissan agrees - which is why it’s bringing award-winning performance to Washington with its 2018 LEAF.

According to Automotive World, the 2018 LEAF has just secured a five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme - an international organization that delivers independent safety protocols and procedures. This group evaluates each platform’s responses to a series of key crash scenarios; and it thoroughly examines both driver and passenger protection systems.

The success of the 2018 LEAF, therefore, is to be celebrated.

Automotive World notes that Nissan’s latest hatchback secured a top ranking from the Assessment Programme - scoring 94.3% (no car has ever earned 100%). The reason for this high number was the LEAF’s integrated ProPILOT system, an automated suite that yields superior control. Front-mounted scanners observe traffic patterns and lane alignments alike, streaming feeds into the central console. Should an obstacle be detected, these sensors will alert the appropriate vehicle function to ensure immediate action is taken (this may include the ABS brakes, the steering column, or the acceleration pedal). Speed is adjusted and distance is increased to provide drivers with more time to gauge the situations for themselves, bringing heightened security to every mile.

Economy proves rare within the half-ton market - with pick-ups intended for payloads, not pump performance. Strength, it’s argued, can’t coexist with efficiency.

Nissan disagrees.

According to JD Power, the 2018 Titan delivers class-leading economy - with its 5.6L Endurance V8 engine generating up to 15 MPGs in the city and 21 MPGs on the highway. How does it achieve such a strong ratio? Nissan credits its inclusion of active grille technology.

Efficiency has come to the pick-up market - with active grille shutters anchoring the Titan’s front. These are exclusive valves that open and close as needed to control air flow. Their main purpose is to ensure optimum engine temperatures, increasing intake levels when sensors indicate that the V8 is over-heating. When this goal is achieved, however, they will then create a tight seal against the fenders, forcing wind to divert away from the chassis.

This promotes aerodynamic responses with every mile - allowing the Titan to battle more effectively against drag. The platform can quickly maneuver through each environment, with air sluiced away and friction reduced. Engine strain is greatly lessened. The need for an excess of resources, therefore, is decreased and overall economy rises.

Active grille shutters provide the Titan with superior control over every drop of fuel - and they allow drivers to experience greater value at the pump. To learn more contact us today!
It’s an unforgiving road - scattered with broken pavement and deep ruts, rising into a series of sharp-peaked hills. Its demands are many and its miles are long; and you curse under your breath, wondering why you thought a front-wheel-drive would prove up to this challenge.

Don’t fret, Seattle: you can tackle this road after you’ve slipped behind the wheel of the 2018 Nissan Rogue.

According to JD Power, the new Rogue proves a perfect complement to every all-terrain adventure - offering drivers best-in-class performance (170 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque), superior speed (9.8-seconds for a 0 to 60 run) and smooth shifting (courtesy of the Xtronic transmission). Its true value, however, is the availability of an advanced AWD, which promises effortless backroad fun.

This seven-passenger platform delivers intuitive environment scanning, with integrated sensors noting both acceleration ratios and lane alignment. From this information it generates real-time calculations, adjusting steerage up to 30 times per second. This creates a seamless burst of traction, with all torque divided evenly between the wheels. Tire grippage is increased and the strut-front suspension provides optimal stiffness. This allows drivers to accommodate changing terrains with ease, relying on the AWD’s custom modes to bolster every response.

There’s no road too treacherous to conquer!

Unveiled last month at the 2018 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Nissan Smokin’ Titan was officially fired up this week for a four-city tour. Dubbed The Great Titan Meat Up, Nissan’s ultimate tailgating and barbecuing pickup brought truck and grill enthusiasts together to share their appreciation for brawny performance and delicious eats.

The Smokin' Titan kicked off its tour in Idaho City before making stops at Roaming Buffalo BBQ in Denver, Q39 BBQ in Kansas City, Salt + Smoke BBQ in St. Louis, and Central BBQ in Memphis. But, that was all just a pre-game event for this Saturday when the heat will be turned up at the Great Titan Meat Up in Pigeon Forge.

With celebrity chefs Cory Bahr and David Rose serving as judges, teams will be challenged to out-cook a Nissan executive team led by Billy Hayes, Division VP, Nissan Regional Operations, who is not only an outdoor cooking enthusiast, but one of the masterminds behind the Smokin’ Titan. Hayes will be joined by three other Nissan executives and will compete against five media organizations, as well as a team from Nissan Canton Assembly, where the Smokin' Titan was assembled.

It promises to be a sizzling competition! To follow along, check out @NissanUSATrucks on Instagram and Facebook or utilize the hashtags #SmokinTITAN and #TITANMeatUp to join in the conversation.

Across the pond, the 2018 Nissan Leaf has added a new trophy to its growing list of awards. The EV scored a five-star result in the revised European New Car Assessment Programme (also known as Euro NCAP), which was recently amended to include a number of new assessments that address key crash scenarios involving vulnerable road users, including cyclists and pedestrians.

This isn’t the Leaf’s first rodeo with the Euro NCAP. In 2011, it became the world’s first electric car to get a five-star rating from the safety organization. Seven years later and the Leaf continues to break ground – it is the first automobile to be examined under the Euro NCAP’s revised 2018 guidelines.

During the testing, it was found that adult occupant protection was particularly strong, earning the Leaf a 93 percent score, while its child occupant protection followed closely behind with 86 percent. In the pedestrian protection and safety assist areas, the 2018 Nissan Leaf scored 71 percent.

These high scores are a result of the Leaf’s standard safety features, which include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Intelligent Lane Intervention, and Lane Departure Warning. All systems can detect vulnerable road users and alert the driver of their proximity, thus mitigating a serious collision.

According to the Euro NCAP, the Leaf demonstrates that environmental friendliness does not need to come at the expense of improved safety – and we have to agree. Why choose one over the other when you can have both?

This week at Auto China 2018, Nissan launched the first electric vehicle built in China for Asian consumers and it has the whole world talking about the potential of a later global launch. The vehicle is called the Sylphy Zero Emission and it is based on the ever-popular and best-seller Nissan Leaf.

Boasting an all-electric powertrain, advanced technologies and a spacious cabin designed for convenience and comfort, the Sylphy features an extended drive range of 210 miles. It will also incorporate a full-size wheelbase, offering greater stability and interior legroom, as well as multi-layer ergonomic seating with heating options. A connectivity feature will allow the vehicle's audio and video to be remote-controlled from a mobile phone as well. From the sounds of it, the Sylphy is as cutting-edge as you can get.

As the first mass-production EV for the China market, Nissan also claims that it is one of 20 electrified models to be introduced over the next five years. The Sylphy Zero Emission will go on sale later in 2018 and more information about the specs and pricing will be available at that time.

Will we be lucky enough to test drive the Sylphy on North American soil? News of a global release has not been mentioned, but our team at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle is hopeful. To learn more about our current line-up of available EVs, contact our dealership today.
Across Europe it goes - a 2.5L beast. Its profile is lean; its roar is loud; and its 32-inch off-road tires allow it to stomp across even the toughest terrains. This is the 2018 Nissan Navara and it has no equal… overseas.

As Top Speed explains the new Navara has been released to strong acclaim in Europe - with drivers craving its athletic body and off-road sensibility. An 0.8-inch suspension lift yields class-leading ground clearance, allowing the platform to deliver a wading depth of 31.5-inches; while the 35-inch approach angle promises easy maneuvering, protecting the undercarriage from debris. A 24-inch breakover ramp further impresses, enabling riders to seek out deep ruts and sudden inclines (it adjusts the transfer case and propeller to more efficient mounting positions and keeps them away from unsteady terrains).

Through this, the 2018 Navara can roar down every road - pushing its 2.5L engine to the limits. It delivers 160 HP, with the electronic rear differential locking perfectly in place with each rev.

The Kirkland team must confess: we’re envious of Europe. We’d love to see the new Navara racing down the Washington backroads (its intuitive 4WD would prove a perfect a complement to every adventure); and, while there are no official production plans, critics do wonder if Nissan will bring it stateside to compete with the Ford Ranger. We have our fingers crossed and our lot ready.

There are few miles in this world more treacherous than those tucked within the Rocky Mountains. Across this chain of stone and snow sprawls a collection of shallow byways - all clinging to its sharp peaks (the tallest of which rises more than 14,000 feet above sea level). These paths are unforgiving and, for pick-up drivers, they often prove impossible to cross.

For those that favor the 2018 Titan, however, victory is assured.

According to Nissan, the 2018 Titan has just been named the Rocky Mountain Truck of the Year. This award - which was bestowed by top journalists of the western automotive press corps - celebrates off-road capabilities. Anchored by a 5.6L Endurance V8, this platform can effortlessly roll across even the toughest terrains, yielding 390 HP and 394 lb.-ft of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission offers high-range gear shifts to promote optimum traction, while the four-wheel-drivetrain combines a locking rear differential with a double-wishbone suspension to ensure balanced handling. Integrated trailer sway control technology stabilizes every payload; and downhill speed regulators seamlessly adapt to changing inclines.

This allows the 2018 Titan to smoothly maneuver down every trail - and it places it above the market’s leading competitors. Nissan noted that the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press ranked this platform above both the Ford F-150 and the Dodge Ram 2500, proving that not all half-ton trucks are created equal.
