Today Nissan released a teaser ahead of the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show. The automaker announced that it will reveal an all-new electric concept crossover called the Nissan IMQ.

Images of the vehicle have begun to surface online and industry insiders are buzzing about its unique design, especially its oversized wheels and narrow windows. Nissan hasn’t provided details about the IMQ’s powerplant, but speculators imagine that it will be based on the same platform as the IMS concept, which debuted at the NAIAS in Detroit. The IMS runs on a 115 kWh battery with a range of up to 380 miles. A dual motor all-wheel drive system is expected to provide up to 360 kW of power and 800 Nm of torque.

Full details about the IMQ will be unveiled during a livestream press conference on March 5, 2019, at 12:15 p.m. CET on the Nissan Global YouTube channel. Be sure to tune in – our team at Kirkland Nissan will be watching from our dealership in Seattle, Washington.
You’ve heard us chatting about the Consumer Electronics Show in this space before, and today we wanted to bring all you tech enthusiasts a little more information about the Japanese automaker’s scheduled appearance this upcoming year. The Las Vegas event, set to kick off on January 9, will mark the reiteration of the manufacturer’s commitment to Intelligent Mobility as well as the U.S. debut of the IMx concept vehicle.

One of the technologies Nissan will have on display at CES 2018 is their ProPILOT Assist. It’s a progressive adaptive cruise control system that’s set to move the industry forward with its inclusion on upcoming vehicles, including the all-new LEAF. It imbues an automobile with the ability to automatically manage its distance from any car traveling ahead, selectively braking to maintain proper separation. However, it also keeps the machine centered within its lane, adjusting steering as necessary. Fantastic!

The IMx concept vehicle is set to wow, too. It offers fully autonomous driving via its PD mode. With that selected, the wheel stows away, all seats recline, and the computer takes over completely. Nissan’s wonder car automatically takes you to your destination, accelerating, braking, and steering all the way.

This year’s Dubai International Motor Show offered car enthusiasts in the Middle East the opportunity to witness the future of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility initiative. Two of the all-electric wonder cars on display were the 2018 LEAF and the prototype BladeGlider.

Nissan Intelligent Mobility is set to make the world safer and more efficient through self-driving technology and all-electric design, and the next-generation 2018 LEAF represents the initiative perfectly. Unveiled for the first time in the Middle East, the vehicle has been selected as the Official Automotive Partner for Expo 2020 Dubai and has been branded accordingly. When it releases early next year in Seattle and elsewhere, the car will come packed with an engine capable of 147 horses and 236-lb.-ft. of torque.

Alongside the LEAF was the futuristic BladeGlider. While only a prototype, it exists to provide the public with an idea of where Nissan Intelligent Mobility is going in the future, whether you live in Seattle, Dubai, or elsewhere. Donning a sports car design, the fascinating vehicle merges an exhilarating open-top structure with the safety of a coupe. Early models have been powered by a five-module lithium-ion battery rated at 220kW.

We’ve covered the 2018 Nissan LEAF’s upcoming performance in great detail, but did you realize how affordable this all-electric vehicle is relative to its technology? The hatchback is a sensational car that is prepared to get only better.

The performance for the 2018 Nissan Leaf is assured. Even the base model of the vehicle will achieve 150 miles of range, which represents an improvement of 43 miles over the 2017 model. This is managed via a 40-kilowatt lithium-ion battery. And speed is in abundance, too. The electric engine on this impressive car supplies 147 HP and 236-lb.-ft. of torque.

Despite eclipsing the previous variant in power and range, the 2018 LEAF will come in at an extremely reasonable price of only $30,875. Notably, that includes the destination charge. This means that not only is it a performance wonder, but it also manages to shockingly arrive at a lower entry point than the 2017 model. Sensational!

At the 45th Tokyo Motor Show only days ago, Nissan revealed their IMx all-electric autonomous crossover concept, based on technology scheduled for a 2020 arrival. We’ve spoken of the amazing nature of the machine’s ability to effortlessly switch between the manual, human-driven mode and the ProPILOT self-driving function, but let’s really dig into the power and performance details of this amazing future vehicle.

Two high-output electric engines—one at the front and one at the back of the automobile—bestow the IMx concept with its incredible speed and overall performance. Together, the motors offer 700 Nm (newton meters) of torque and 320 kW of power, building upon what the manufacturer has learned with the LEAF. All this, of course, is delivered silently and efficiently, without the grunting and wheezing of conventional gasoline alternatives. Additionally, this crossover sports a battery that’s been redesigned specifically for higher energy density. You’ll receive approximately 370 miles of driving range as you journey around Renton, Bellevue, and Seattle!

There’s more, though. The IMx is designed to mimic a high-performance vehicle. It boasts a low center of gravity for great responsiveness through curves and turns. Also, the platform’s rigidity keeps the driver connected to the streets with a wonderful on-road feel.

Nissan is poised to deliver the future of automobiles sooner than many may have anticipated. Revealed at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, the IMx all-electric autonomous crossover concept is at the forefront of the company’s Intelligent Power Initiative, due for introduction to the masses beginning in 2020.

The Nissan LEAF, of course, offers ProPILOT technology, but the IMx concept takes it further. It provides entirely autonomous driving—no human intervention or effort required! It works via a simple mode selection. When you want to kick back and relax, select PD Mode. This hides away the steering wheel and automatically reclines all seats as the computer takes over and guides passengers to their destination. Conversely, if you want to take matters into your own hands, you need only choose Manual Drive (MD Mode) to reverse the aforementioned changes and regain full control of the vehicle.

Nissan is touting just how simple this all is via its Human Machine Interface. Selecting either ProPILOT Drive or Manual Drive modes is as easy as making the switch via the PD Commander. This is conveniently arranged directly on the center console and can also be activated via voice control.

If you want to learn more details about the IMx or any of the manufacturer’s upcoming concepts, don’t hesitate to call Kirkland Nissan in Seattle now!
In conjunction with the reveal of two new electric concept vehicles at Tokyo Motor Show 2017, Nissan has formally announced their intention to join Formula E for the 2018-2019 season. This pledge is exciting news for racing car and EV enthusiasts everywhere and stands to give the manufacturer a global platform to show off their design prowess.

The two new zero-emission concepts—the LEAF Nismo and IMx crossover—represent Nissan’s big all-electric plans and their push for intelligent mobility. The former car, specifically, represents the manufacturer’s engineering sophistication as it announces its plans to enter Formula E racing. It will offer a sportier suspension, Continental summer tires, and recalibrated tuning that aims to improve the availability of the original machine’s 147 horses and 236-lb.-ft. of torque. As a result, the vehicle will be more lively and responsive.

Nissan will become the first Japanese car maker to enter the racing championships. Competing in season 5 of Formula E in late 2018, the manufacturer (along with other participants) will for the first time be able to develop a substantial portion of the vehicle’s electric powertrain components. While all contestants must still utilize the same chassis, it will be a fresh one that differs from that featured this December for season 4.
