If you’re searching high and low for the perfect new mid-size crossover, we have to recommend the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder S. “Everyman Driver” has the good word on the machine in his video review below. Primary takeaways are that the standard engine is capable and the safety features are robust.


The 2014 Pathfinder S is outfitted with a sprightly 3.5L DOHC V6 motor. It generates 260 horses and 240-lb.-ft. of torque. While this is some great raw power, performance on this SUV is really a one-two punch courtesy of the addition of the Xtronic two-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT). It mimics the crispness of automatic operation but instead delivers limitless gear ratios. In short, you won’t be feeling any jerkiness as you rev up the engine and accelerate. Fuel economy is great, too—approximately 20 city / 26 highway MPG on average.

And, as “bmhsonic” reveals in his YouTube review, the base trim of the zero-emissions car blends that performance with a pleasant level of comfort and convenience that leaves him “simply amazed.”


The 2017 LEAF SL is a stellar performer that’s good for the environment. Conventional engines are eschewed in favor of an 80 kW AC synchronous motor and a 30 kWh lithium-ion battery. This delivers 107 horses and 187-lb.-ft. of torque. More interesting, though, is the fact that you’ll get 107 miles of range on a single charge—and the car can be fully juiced up via a 220-volt outlet in only seven hours. Moreover, it takes just $4 to do so in this reviewer’s experience. Incredible!

The LEAF S also offers a pleasant ride. The front seats are heated for your comfort. The side mirrors are also electronically warmed to ensure your view is un-compromised no matter the weather conditions. There are a number of smart inclusions throughout the cabin that provide a strong dose of convenience.
