Dear Patrick,
I am in the process of trading in my old jalopy for a beautiful, brand new Nissan Rogue. Does a new car mean I have to buy a different insurance policy?

Hi Shanise,
Wow, it sounds like you are ready to step into the big leagues. Congratulations! You are going to love that Rogue.
Here’s some good news. You will not have to get a separate auto policy if you do not want to. Because you have a current relationship with a provider they are prepared and used to clients adding vehicles. However, these people are not psychic! You’ll need to phone them with information about the purchase. They will be able to tell you all the details, but often a new set of wheels does result in a change in rates.
One additional word of advice: We would contact a rep before buying your car. The last thing anyone needs with such a sassy new cruiser is a ticket for driving while uninsured. Most providers can send a temporary card until the official one arrives in the mail.
