While both the 2021 Ram 1500 and 2021 Ford F-150 offer multiple powertrain choices to potential buyers, one is significantly stronger than the other. If you are searching for the best light-duty pickup with a diesel motor, then keep reading!
Â
The Ram 1500 can be equipped with the turbocharged 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6. Generating 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque (best-in-class), this engine is coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission with an E-shifter. It also is partnered only with the 4x4 drivetrain for optimized performance off-road and while pulling a trailer.
Â
On the other hand, the Ford F-150 can be fitted with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 as well. The catch is in the numbers. It only makes around 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. Geared with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, it just doesn’t give off enough strength to beat the Ram 1500.
Â
Now let’s look at the towing capacities. The Ram can haul up to 5,697 kg (12,560 lbs), and the Ford can only handle 4,762 kg (10,500 lbs).
