If you are looking for a top-of-the-line heavy-duty pickup, then you should take a peek at the 2021 Ram 3500 Limited and the 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali. Boasting extreme exterior features to get the job done right, which model will reign supreme?
Â
The Ram 3500 Limited rides on large 20-inch aluminum wheels with a chrome-plated finish and on/off-road tires. Since it is such a giant, it also comes with power-deployable running boards to help passengers climb inside the cabin.
Â
On the other hand, the GMC Sierra 3500 Denali rolls on 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires. Featuring fixed side steps, you can't hide them when they are not in use.
Â
The main difference between these two models is the Rambox Cargo Management System. Adding water-proof, lockable/drainable storage compartments to the truck’s bed, you can organize your tools easily. The Sierra 3500 isn’t equipped with anything like this.

When it comes to heavy-duty trucks, sometimes power doesn’t equate to better performance. Pitting the 2021 Ram 3500 against the 2021 Sierra 3500 is a prime example of this.
Â
Equipped with the standard 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Ram 3500 produces 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. If you pop the hood of the Sierra 3500, you will find a 6.6-litre V8 with a 6-speed automatic transmission that makes 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque.
Â
Keep these numbers in mind, the towing capacities of each model are quite different. With the Fifth-Wheel/Gooseneck package, the Ram can pull up to 8,259 kgs (18,210 lbs), and the Sierra can only manage to haul 7,497 kgs (16,530 lbs). That can make a substantial difference on a construction site.

With a best-in-class performance, the 2021 Ram 3500 is hard to beat in terms of diesel output. While the 2021 Sierra 3500 puts up a decent fight, it doesn’t hold a candle to this beast.
Â
Growling under the hood of the Ram 3500 is a 6.7-litre H.O. turbo-diesel I-6 motor mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Showcasing brute strength, this unit can generate 420 hp and a jaw-dropping 1,075 lb-ft of torque. With the proper equipment, it can even pull 16,828 kgs (37,100 lbs) with ease.
Â
On the other hand, the Sierra 3500 is fitted with a 6.6-litre turbo-diesel V8 that makes 445 hp and only 910 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission, its maximum towing limit with a gooseneck attachment is about 7,443 kgs (16,410 lbs). That is nowhere near the monstrous Ram.
