When it comes to cargo vans, a luxury nameplate simply won’t do the trick. Power and performance are the two most important aspects of this class of vehicles. That’s why you should compare the 2021 Ram ProMaster to the 2021 Mercedes-Benz Metris.
Â
At first glance, you might think these two vans the same. However, there are some key distinctions. The Mercedes-Benz Metris, for example, is moved by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. Producing 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, it comes with RWD and a nine-speed automatic transmission. It also has a pulling limit of 2,267 kg (5,000 lbs).
Â
Meanwhile, the Ram ProMaster is fitted with a larger 3.6-litre V6 motor. Partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission and FWD, it generates 280 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Plus, if you engage the Tow/Haul Mode, you can bring along an attachment weighing up to 3,134 kg (6,910 lbs).
Â
Another key difference is in the trim levels. The Mercedes is only available in two models; however, the Ram is produced in seven. These include Cutaway, Chassis Cab, and Window Van versions as well.
