Although the 2022 Ram 1500 comes standard with Canada’s favourite V6 engine made by Pentastar, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 (its biggest competitor) no longer offers an engine of this size as a base. However, they do each still offer turbo and supercharged motors that produce more power than ever before. But which one is best?
Â
The Chevy can be fitted with a 6.2-litre V8 that makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, it provides solid performance on the highway.

However, the Ram 1500 can do much better with its available 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI V8. Equipped on the TRX trim level only, this monstrous motor churns out 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque - making it the most robust truck in its class. Using a full-time 4x4 drivetrain system and an 8-speed automatic transmission and manual control, it is built for off-roading, agility, and speed. It even has six selectable modes to choose from depending on the road and weather conditions. In other words, this vehicle can go where others can’t, and it can get there much faster too!
