Dear Robert,

I recently had four new tires fitted to my 2018 Nissan Sentra. The thing is, they feel even less responsive than my old worn out tires: is this normal?

Hi, Frank!

It's really common for people to think they're having problems with their new rubber. But, I can assure you, thereâ€™s nothing wrong with the fresh tires or 2018 Nissan Sentra.

When tires come to the end of their life, they generally have very little tread left. Rubber in this condition is more responsive when turning and driving around sharp bends.

Your new tires will have a much deeper tread which needs to flex a bit more when turning; this is often described as a 'squirmy' feeling.

So, since your new rubber is flexing more through the bends, it will feel slightly less responsive than your old tires.

You were probably looking forward to sharper and improved handling, but this will come with time. All you need to do is take it easy for the first five hundred miles and performance levels will increase after that.

Marysville: Could Bad Spark Plugs Cause Your 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport to Smell Like Gas?

Hi Robert,

I noticed a smell of gas coming from my 2018 Nissan Rogue Sportâ€™s exhaust the other day. I've heard that this could be down to worn out spark plugs: am I correct in thinking this is the case?

Hi, Geoff!

There are a few reasons a smell of gas could come from your 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport's exhaust, but it's definitely possible worn out spark plugs are the cause.

When plugs foul or wear out they produce a colder spark: the result isÂ incomplete combustion.

Since not all of the fuel is burnt in the combustion chamber, the excess raw gasoline escapes out of the exhaust. So, this could be whatâ€™s happening in your vehicle.

If this is the issue with your Rogue Sport, its fuel economy will be suffering and you should replace the spark plugs at your earliest convenience.

I canâ€™t say that this is the problem with your car without inspecting it; so Iâ€™d advise you to call into our Service Department and let one of the Technicians have a look.

Throughout winter my 2018 Nissan Rogue's tire pressure monitoring light has been turning on. It seems like the rubber has deflated but not by much. My father said itâ€™s due to the cold weather: is he correct?

Hi, Michael!

Cold weather can cause your 2018 Nissan Rogueâ€™s tires to deflate; with the way you have described it, this sounds like it's the most likely cause.

Regular tires will drop by about 1 PSI for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit the outside air temperature decreases.

So, if youâ€™ve just done a relatively long drive or itâ€™s a warm day when you pump some air in your rubber, you will lose a few PSI as the temperature drops on these wintery nights. This can definitely be enough to trigger your low tire pressure warning light.

Likewise, your tires will inflate by about 1 PSI for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit the temperature goes up. So you may see that warning light switch off throughout the day if your car is out in the sunlight.

I recently upgraded to a 2018 Nissan Titan and share it with my wife. Iâ€™m not quite sure how to set up the memory seat function. She's a lot smaller than me so it would help us a lot if you could explain this feature.

Hi, Paul!

Itâ€™s no fun having to readjust your 2018 Nissan Titanâ€™s settings each morning. Programming the memory seat function is easy, just follow the steps below.

First, manually adjust everything to the way you like it: this includes the mirrors as the memory seat feature will adjust these too. Next, push â€˜setâ€™ and then the number â€˜1â€™: these buttons are on the driverâ€™s door.

Now you should hear an audible sound and the â€˜1â€™ button will light up; this is how you know youâ€™ve set everything up correctly and it has been saved.

After this, all you have to do is press the â€˜1â€™ button and your seat and mirror settings will adjust automatically.

If your wife wants to set it up for herself, she needs to repeat the above steps but use the number â€˜2â€™ button instead of â€˜1â€™.

Congratulations on upgrading to the 2018 Nissan Maxima, itâ€™s a great vehicle. Pairing your phone to this car is a quick and painless process.

First, you need to hit the button on your steering wheel with a picture of someone talking. After this, you will hear audible instructions come through your carâ€™s speakers.

Push the same button again to skip these directions and then say â€œadd phoneâ€ out loud. After this, youâ€™ll see some on-screen instructions which will let you know your vehicle has recognized your command.

Now switch your phone's Bluetooth on and start searching for nearby devices; you should see â€˜MY MAXIMAâ€™ appear under this section: select it.

Finally, hit â€˜pairâ€™ on your phone and press â€˜yesâ€™ on your vehicle's screen. Then wait for your contacts etc. to upload to your carâ€™s computer, and thatâ€™s really all there is to it.
