Hi Robert,
I was recently abroad for a couple of months with work. When I got back, I had a hard time getting my 2018 Nissan Altima running: thankfully it was alright in the end. But I realized that I have no idea how to jump-start a car. Could you walk me through the process?
Thanks,
Brian
Hi, Brian!
Have no fear: this is a pretty straightforward process. First, you’ll need to have a set of jump leads and another car with a relatively good battery.
Place both vehicles in park or neutral and shut the ignitions off. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal of the battery in your Nissan Altima. Then repeat the process with the other car.
Next, place one of the black clips on the negative terminal of the good Samaritan's battery. Then, put the other on an unpainted metal surface in your Altima's engine bay (one of the struts which hold the hood open would be a fine option). Sstart the working car and let it run for a few minutes.
Finally, try to start your vehicle. If it doesn’t work, check to make sure you have connected everything properly and let the other car run for a few more minutes.
Thanks for the question, Brian. Contact Kirkland Nissan, Washington if you ever need anything else.
