Interesting Nissan Facts For Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
Why settle for less than supercar technology? Really—we’re serious! Nissan understands that just because the Altima is a four-door sedan doesn’t mean it has to be ordinary, which is why the 2019 version comes with an engine that benefits from a special manufacturing process.

The 2019 Altima’s 2.5L motor is made using a high-tech mirror bore process that reduces friction while simultaneously enhancing efficiency. This is achieved by removing the bulky cylinder liners and, as a result, the whole unit runs more smoothly.

The treatment used on the Altima’s engine was first incorporated when manufacturing the GT-R. Now, the parts are made on the Decherd assembly line, and it’s now the highest volume use of the tech at the company. In fact, a 2019 Nissan Altima engine can be produced as quickly as every 19 seconds!

"Advanced technology like the mirror bore process only makes sense for Nissan if we can offer it to as many customers as possible," said Jay Boyte, director of engineering at Decherd Powertrain Plant, Nissan North America. "The end result is an innovative and efficient engine made with manufacturing technology usually not available at this volume or price point.”

Here's an important fact for you today, Tacoma and Kirkland residents! Nissan’s Altima has been sold more than 5.6 million times in its 25-year history. The start of the machine’s sixth generation—the 2019 Altima—is set to kick things into yet another gear.

The 2019 Altima is the first in the long line of sedans to offer Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. This isn’t your father’s AWD; instead, it’s constantly adapting to road conditions. It senses throttle position, vehicle speed, and wheel spin, all in real time, and then will divert up to 50% of available power as necessary in order to maximize performance. In less-than-optimal conditions (poor weather on harsh roads, for instance), traction and control are thereby enhanced.

Note that if you’re traveling under optimal conditions, the 2019 Altima’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive will send all power to the rear wheels in order to increase responsiveness and overall performance. Thus, no matter what the situation, you’ll be ready to meet it head-on.
