Built in Tennessee, the first model was referred to as the “Stanza” to indicate that it was replacing an already existing automobile. By its third-generation in 2002, it was named the North American Car of the Year. The Altima also sold a record-breaking number of 200,000 for that year.

By 2013, Nissan’s Zero-Gravity seats made their debut. Designed with 14 different pressure points, these chairs were created to maximize blood flow and keep the driver in a neutral position.

Now, the 2018 Altima includes even cooler technology. Bluetooth connectivity enables hands-free calling, and the infotainment interface is displayed on a 5-inch screen. Forward collision warning and automatic braking are standard on all trim levels and help to prevent accidents.  There is even a USB port to keep your mobile device charged. For backing out of tight spaces, simply take a peek at the rearview camera. No more fender benders!

Hey, Nissan fans! The prototype for the 2019 Altima has been released, and initial reviews are extremely positive. In an article this week by Roadshow, a division of CNET, the reviewer described the new model as being largely similar to the greatness of past versions, but with a huge number of improvements.

Roadshow felt that the largest thing of note in the new Altima was its engine. For the first time ever, it uses a 2.0-liter KR20DETT VC-Turbo. This variety has been seen previously, but only in INFINITI’s QX50 crossover. By adding it to the Nissan lineup, the automaker is going a long way towards improving the brand’s powertrain.

What is VC, you might ask? Well, it stands for variable compression. Rather than use a fixed proportion, this great engine employs a multi-link design that can adjust the stroke of the pistons based on throttle input. The lower the ratio, the better for power delivery. On the flip side, a high one improves overall efficiency. For you, this means on-demand oomph alongside much-improved fuel economy.

While you wait for this awesome new technology to hit showrooms, why not check out the 2018 Altima? It boasts many of the same great features as its soon-to-be-released successor. Hurry
