With its futuristic body style and sleek lines, itâ€™s easy to assume that the 2018 Nissan 370Z Touring is an all-new model. However, itâ€™s actually the result of over 50 years of automobile evolution.

First imported to the United States in 1961, the Datsun Fairlady 1200 Roadster was the sporty coupe that started it all. Over the next seven years, things began to change. By 1971, the Japanese car company had renamed this beauty the 240Z and equipped it with a bigger 2.4L 6-cylinder motor that pumped out a 156 hp. Did you hear the news? Nissan's Senior Vice President of Global Design, Alfonso Albaisa, has stated that big plans are in the works for a newly designed 370Z. Though details have not yet been finalized, rumors suggest that the next model will be powered by a 2.0-liter Mercedes-Benz turbo-four engine. An upgraded version will have the INFINITI 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6, which is able to provide 400 horsepower. A twin-turbo option with 475 horsepower and all-wheel drive would round out the lineup.

Itâ€™s possible that a new prototype will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show this October, but nothing has been confirmed. Stay tuned on these exciting new developments!
