Nissan is partnering with Dongfeng Motor to bring 20 all-new electrified vehicles to China. In this joint-venture known as Electrek, the Japanese automaker is hard at work designing innovative EV’s. They are also developing e-POWER powertrains which function like hybrids with a gas generator and a battery pack. These specific models will not need to be plugged in to charge. The goal of this enterprise is the help lower carbon dioxide emissions in Asia.
Although we might be a tad bit jealous, we still have access to exceptional eco-friendly cars here in the United States. The 2018 Nissan Leaf is the perfect daily driver for any conservation warrior out there. It gets juice from a 110-kW electric motor that produces 147 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. With a driving range of 151 miles, it’s ideal for people who live close to their jobs.
Safety features such as forward collision warning and mitigation with automatic braking come standard in all trim levels. It even has a portable charging cable to replenish the energy stores while on-the-go.Â
