Have you heard the news? Nissan has unveiled a new Leaf! This vehicle, called the Leaf NISMO RC, is an electric race car. Itâ€™s equipped with â€œadvanced battery technology and drivetrain components fromâ€ its namesake automobile. However, the automakers modified its powertrain so that it would work with dual motors. Unfortunately, that feature isnâ€™t available on any model available to consumers.

The Leaf NISMO RC includes two electric motors that are able to produce 240 kilowatts combined (120 kW each) and 640 Nm of instant torque to the wheels. According to Nissan, thatâ€™s more than double the version of this vehicle that was introduced in 2011 and based on the first generation consumer model.

While you canâ€™t get the electric race car version for yourself, you can own a 2018 Nissan Leaf S! This one relies on a portable 120V/240V cable for charging, and its lithium ion battery provides 6.6 kW in the car. Plug in for just a half hour and you can expect to travel as many as 90 miles in this sedan.
