The praise for Nissan’s all-new 2018 LEAF is growing ever greater ahead of its release early next year. A number of journalists and esteemed organizations have recognized its dedication to intelligent technology and a zero-emissions design, and now the automobile has been named “Best Small Family Car.”

The distinction comes courtesy of the Next Green Car Awards 2017, which recognizes the most environmentally friendly automobiles that debuted in the United Kingdom over the past year. Eight separate categories were offered and winners were chosen from a pool of 21 different models from 18 total manufacturers. Notably, the LEAF snagged the same commendation in 2015.


Highlights of the 2018 LEAF that wowed the Next Green Car Awards judges were its driving technologies and improved range—the latter now at 150 miles, an improvement of 43 over the 2017 model. The vehicle also incorporates a fantastic, 40-kilowatt lithium-ion battery that results in 147 horses and 236-lb.-ft. of torque. Additionally, the new ePedal system lets operators start, accelerate, brake, and stop all via one input. Further, semi-autonomous control is provided in single-lane highway situations.

Nissan’s incredible, zero-emission, all-electric Nissan LEAF saw release in the fall of 2017 in Japan. Now, thanks to a continued production ramp up in Smyrna, Tennessee, the wonder car is set for North American release in Seattle and beyond in January 2018.

The 2018 LEAF is a showstopper when it comes to advanced technology. ProPILOT Assist provides semi-autonomous driving in single-lane highway situations through automatic control of steering, braking, and acceleration. The vehicle’s new fast connection, 240-volt port system also enables it to receive a charge of 88 miles in under thirty minutes. That’s super speedy, and will certainly come in handy if you forgot to charge your car the night before.


When fully juiced up, the 2018 LEAF has a total driving range of 150 miles—an improvement of 43 over the outgoing 2017 model. It’s all possible via a 40-kilowatt lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that generates 147 HP and 236-lb.-ft. of torque. Seattleites and World Citizens Look on as Nissan Honored for Environmental Leadership

This week has been a big one for Nissan. Hot on the heels of their recognition as an “A list” business for H20 stewardship in the 2017 Global Water Report, the automaker has brought home this year’s Thailand Automotive Quality Award for "Outstanding Brand Image for Environmental Friendly.” The distinction recognizes the company’s pioneering all-electric work with the LEAF and similar vehicles.

The award was presented to Peter Galli, vice president of Communications at Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd., by the chair of the Impact Muang Thong Thani event, Dr. Somchai Harnhirun. The distinction comes as a result of the company’s dedication to electric technology and reduced emissions, as seen in the Note, Almera, March, and LEAF cars.


In his speech, vice president Galli noted the automaker’s longstanding dedication to the environment through 70 years of electric vehicle research, beginning with the Tama line in 1947. Driving pleasure, affordability, and air quality improvement measures are all seen in the latest 2018 LEAF, a zero-emission EV that makes use of ProPILOT Assist Technology. This enables braking, steering, acceleration, and more autonomous assistance in stop-and-go situations on single-lane highways. Additionally, e-Pedal functionality and similar Intelligent Mobility features help ensure safety, all while a 150-mile cruising range is achieved.

Environmentally Conscious Seattleites Turn to Nissan

Consumers that make their purchases and run their lives with the welfare of the environment in mind continue to turn to Nissan. That fact has been underscored this week with the company’s recognition in the CDP’s 2017 Global Water Report as an “A list” business for H20 stewardship. Additionally, the automaker garnered a “Leadership-level” rating in the same body’s climate change assessment for the fourth consecutive year.

Previously known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, the CDP annually ranks global companies for their efforts in reducing CO2 emissions and effectively managing water usage. Out of greater than 2,000 businesses surveyed, Nissan was one of only 74 that made this year’s “A list” for H20 management. The honor comes as the automaker continues to promote usage reductions across all their production facilities via savvy tech and supply-chain optimizations.


Nissan is now working to reduce “well-to-wheel” CO2 emissions in both their conventional gasoline and progressive electric vehicles. The goal is to have the year 2000 levels shrunk by 90% by 2050. Further technology initiatives, such as expanding vehicle charging infrastructure in cities for the LEAF, will help make this possible.

New Nissan Service Gives Glimpse of How Car-sharing Could Impact Seattle, Other Cities

Sometimes, folks in a big city need the convenience of short-term, on-demand car rental services. As part of their Intelligent Mobility initiative, Nissan is stepping up to the plate in Japan with a vehicle-sharing club that is poised to show off their myriad of advanced technologies.

Beginning on January 15, 2017, Nissan’s car-sharing service, e-share mobi, will begin operation at 30 locations throughout Kyoto, Shiga, Nara, Tokyo, and other Japanese prefectures. The automaker will leverage their fleet of Note e-POWER and LEAF vehicles to bring their electric and autonomous driving systems to the masses.


Nissan’s e-share mobi carries no monthly membership fee and zero distance-based fees. Instead, users can register and use the service on their own terms, with their license acting as their club card. Both the LEAF and Note e-POWER vehicles will provide consumers with the manufacturer’s ProPILOT autonomous driving technology and “Around View Monitor,” offering a virtual bird’s-eye look from above the car. The all-new, zero-emission Leaf is making its China debut this week at the 15th annual Guangzhou Auto Show. It will be on display along with Nissan’s Vmotion 2.0 concept car and the Venucia T70 – a brand that is part of Nissan’s joint venture with Chinese company Dongfeng Venucia Motor Co.
 
The new Leaf recently premiered in Japan to much excitement from automotive and EV enthusiasts alike. It offers a greater range (150 miles), advanced driver assist technologies and a cutting-edge design – all of which enhance the Leaf’s overall enjoyment, connectivity and performance. The Leaf also comes standard with ProPILOT autonomous driving technology, ProPILOT Park and e-Pedal.

The 2018 Nissan Leaf hasn’t even hit North American roads, but that’s not stopping the EV from raking up accolades and honors. It was recently named a contender for Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, which is an annual award given by the magazine to acknowledge the best new or significantly refreshed cars.
 
The 2018 Leaf was recognized for its attractive aerodynamic design, superb semi-autonomous driving option, and amazing pricing, as well as its 150-mile range from the 40-kW-hr battery. 
 
This includes one of the Leaf’s newest features called ProPILOT Assist. According to Nissan, this technology relieves driver workload by reducing the amount of driver acceleration, steering, and braking input under certain conditions. Then there is e-Pedal – another innovative technology that lets drivers start, accelerate, decelerate and stop by increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator. When the accelerator is fully released, regenerative and friction brakes are applied automatically, bringing the Leaf to a complete stop.

Get ready, Seattle! The 2018 Nissan LEAF, due for debut early next year, is already stacking up international awards. The first honor for this incredible all-electric, zero-emission vehicle comes courtesy of the Consumer Electronics Show’s (CES) “Unveiled” ceremony.

At the special event, the 2018 LEAF garnered the “Best of Innovation” award in the “Vehicle Intelligence and Self-Driving Technology” segment. Additionally, it was the convention’s honoree in the “Tech for a Better World” category. The distinctions come ahead of the annual January CES main show in Las Vegas, where Nissan will have the futuristic car on full display for eager event goers.

Green Car Reports has the upcoming next-generation Nissan LEAF as one of their finalists for “Best Car to Buy 2018.” Why? Well, in a pinch, it comes down to affordability, great styling, and superior performance.

“If any electric car aside from the Tesla Model 3 can be called "long-awaited," it would be the redesigned 2018 Nissan Leaf,” says Green Car Reports. Their contention is a fair one—the redesigned all-electric vehicle is set to make a splash with high technology that comes at a base price of just $30,875—$7,000 less than a Chevy Bolt EV. And with that low cost comes the pleasure of a redesigned exterior that’s sportier, more upright, and at home among the manufacturer’s other hatchback options.


Performance in the 2018 LEAF is also set to be superlative. The new electric engine will wow with 147 horses and 236-lb.-ft. of torque. This represents an increase over the previous year of tremendous proportion. There’s now 40 HP and 49-lb.-ft. torque more than experienced previously.

Next-Gen 2018 Nissan LEAF Poised to Shake Up Seattle

It’s almost here. The masterminds at Nissan have taken the wraps off the 2018 LEAF, and boy, does this all-electric vehicle have the makings of a true classic. From a thoughtfully reconsidered exterior to a massively upgraded engine, this car is ready to take the States by storm.

There are a number of substantive changes to the exterior that make a great automobile even better. The attractive, chrome Nissan “V-Motion” front design makes the cut for this upcoming generation’s LEAF. The grille itself is finished in a 3D-ish geometric blue pattern that is futuristic and eye-catching. And other changes are functional as opposed to purely aesthetic, with the new hood’s “ribs” and curves offering greater aerodynamics.


The improvements don’t stop at the exterior, however. Motor Trend dove into the particulars of the new engine, calling it a “marathon multiple-organ transplant.” Now, the electric power plant provides 147 horses and 236-lb.-ft. of torque. This is a big boost from the prior model year’s 107 and 187-lb.-ft., respectively!
