Great news, Seattle EV enthusiasts! On Monday, Nissan announced that the 2018 Leaf will be arriving at North American dealerships in January.Â

The second-generation Leaf is currently in production at Nissan’s expansive assembly plant in Smyrna, Tennessee – one of three locations globally that will build the vehicle, along with the Oppama plant in Yokosuka, Japan, and a factory in Sunderland, England. The Smyrna facility currently produces five other models, including the Nissan Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder and Rogue, as well as the Infiniti QX60.Â

The Nissan Leaf has been in production at the Smyrna assembly plant since 2013, with more than 114,550 vehicles sold in the United States since 2011. The team couldn’t be more excited to see 2018 model roll off their production line. Watch them beam with pride in this video:

For 2018, the Leaf will incorporate new technology that will make this second-generation vehicle drive farther, better and smarter than ever before. It features available ProPILOT Assist technology, which helps motorists navigate stop-and-go traffic by assisting control of acceleration, braking and steering during single-lane highway driving. The 2018 Leaf also offers an increased range (up to 150 miles) and incorporates standard Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and e-Pedal technology.Â
