Ten days and 1,600 miles later, Sedona Blinson and Leah Heffelfinger of Team Wild Grace crossed the Rebelle Rally’s finish line in San Diego in their 2018 Nissan Armada, which the duo affectionately called “Babe.†Out of 41 competitors, the mothers turned off-road navigation rally car drivers placed 11th in the competition.Â
Â
"Babe" competed in the Bonestock category, which highlights stock, unmodified vehicles to provide a platform within the 4×4 and Crossover classes. In an interview, Heffelfinger noted that fellow competitors originally were surprised to see the Armada alongside other 4x4 Bonestock entries, but by the end of the race, many had a newfound respect for the Armada's capabilities.Â
Â
"The Bonestock category was designed to prove that the vehicle in your driveway is more capable than you think it is, and the Armada proved exactly that," said the competitor. "'Babe' proved to be a powerhouse, dominating whoops, crawling up large and rocky hill climbs with ease in 4-Low. The fact that we came in 11th of 41 vehicles proves the Armada is every bit as capable as its competitors."
Â
Nothing on the Armada was modified for this competition, except for the Nitto Ridge Grappler tires that it was riding on. Inside the cabin, the SUV’s spacious interior, remote engine start system, power liftgate and front and rear seat heaters made the tough off-roading adventure more comfortable for the drivers. It was an exhausting 10-day marathon for the women, but one that was made that much more pleasant in the well-equipped Armada.
