While many of us look to Nissan for our automotive needs—roomy crossovers such as the Pathfinder and all-electric wonders such as the LEAF—occasionally, the Japanese automaker can touch lives in far more integral ways. This can be evidenced most recently in their work in South Africa, as the company helped deliver a new water system to a secondary school.

The backstory: Several months ago, Nissan received a special request from the Bahlaloga Secondary School in Lonsdale, Limpopo, South Africa. They needed a new water tank—a truly functional setup. The Japanese manufacturer wasted little time in conducting an analysis and snapping into action, replacing the old borehole system and introducing the fresh alternative to the community.

The new water system was recently unveiled to the gathered local leaders, teachers, and students at Bahlologa. While previously only one tap at the school was working, there are now four working at full capacity. This marks a monumental improvement, as hundreds rely on the setup for their needs each day.

If you’re interested in hearing more about the automaker’s involvement in the community—or regarding their commitment to the environment with the LEAF—don’t hesitate to call us at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle!
