Last month, we shared news about the forthcoming 2019 Nissan Leaf e+, which is expected to go on sale in the U.S. later this spring. This highly-anticipated model will feature a larger 62 kWh battery pack and a higher output powertrain, delivering an increased range of 226 miles.
Â
Since its unveiling, Nissan opened up pre-sales in Europe and received more than 3,000 orders for the Leaf 3.Zero Limited Edition model, which has 5,000 units planned. According to Ken Ramirez, Nissan Europe’s Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, the first thousand pre-orders were placed in the first day and 3,000 were reached in mid-January – just days after prices were announced.
Â
With interest so high, Nissan has had to recalibrate their total volume expectations for the year to manage customer demand and wait times. With global buzz growing for the new Leaf e+, we anticipate that models will go just as quickly here in North America, as they have in Europe.
