It has been an exciting week for Nissan Versa fans. First, spy images of the 2020 model were spotted in full camo and now the automaker has confirmed the next generation’s debut. According to a press release, the new compact sedan will be unveiled at the "Rock the Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival" in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
One might wonder why Nissan would select a country music festival to debut the Versa – it seems like an unlikely match. However, some industry insiders purport that the automaker is paying homage to its Nashville, Tennessee, roots, which is very possible.
Little is known about the forthcoming Versa, but if we examine the spy images, the next-gen sedan will take its design cues from its bigger siblings, the Maxima and Altima. The exterior looks to be re-shaped with thinner and more angular headlights and taillights, while the sideview mirrors have been relocated from the A-pillar to the doors. Details haven’t been shared about the platform’s engine specs, but the current model runs on a 109-hp naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission, which could remain.
