This week, the Nissan Leaf reached a major milestone. In just seven short years of production, the EV hit the 300,000 mark for global sales. Unsurprisingly, this news cements the Leaf’s position as the world’s best-selling electric vehicle and a favorite here on North American soil.
Â
"These numbers prove that the Nissan Leaf remains the most advanced car in the world, with the widest reach and the greatest availability,†said Nissan’s Executive VP Daniele Schillaci in a company statement. “The new Nissan Leaf is the icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility because it delivers an even more exciting drive and enhanced ownership experience. It will take Nissan's EV leadership even further."
Â
Over the last seven years, sales for the Leaf have been incredibly strong, but we expect to see numbers climb even higher as EV enthusiasts eagerly await the next-gen model, which will feature an all-new range of 150 miles and an enhanced 40 kilowatt-hour battery pack. The 2018 Leaf will also come equipped with ProPILOT Assist, ProPILOT Park, and e-Pedal, offering drivers even more refinement, comfort and convenience when behind the wheel.
