The all-new next-gen Nissan Leaf isn't available for purchase at our dealership in Seattle, Washington, but that hasn't stopped the world's most popular EV from raking in the hardware from across the pond. Most recently, the 2018 Leaf was named the "Best Electric Car" in the What Car? Car of the Year Awards, which is one of the UK's biggest car-buying media brands, widely regarded as a trusted source for new car advice.
Â
Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car?, praised the award-winning model for its year-round range and performance. "The electric car market has never been more competitive, yet the Leaf saw off all its rivals because it makes the most sense to most buyers," he said in a statement. "It combines excellent performance with generous standard equipment and low running costs. And even in winter weather, its real-world range is good."
Â
This is thanks to a host of new innovations found on the 2018 Leaf, which allow the EV to drive farther, better and smarter than ever before. This includes available ProPilot Assist, which helps motorists navigate stop-and-go traffic by assisting control of acceleration, braking and steering during single-lane highway driving. The 2018 Leaf also delivers an increased range of up to 150 miles and incorporates standard Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and e-Pedal technology.Â
