If you are thinking about purchasing a light-duty pickup, then you have several options on the market. However, not all of these trucks are created equal. Comparing the 2021 Ram 1500 Classic to the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, you can quickly see which vehicle offers more power in terms of V6 and V8 output.
Â
First, the Ram 1500 Classic comes standard with Canada’s favourite 3.6-litre V6 engine. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and your choice of a 4x2 or 4x4 system, it delivers 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the available 5.7-litre HEMI V8 model generates 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. It is also paired with the same transmission and drivetrain trimmings.
Â
On the other hand, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 can be equipped with a 4.3-litre V6 that uses a 6-speed automatic transmission to push out 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. That is 20 horses weaker than the Ram. It can also be fitted with the 5.3-litre V8 engine. Partnered with an 8-speed automatic, it makes 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. That is significantly lower than the Ram as well.
