When it comes to power, most SUVs play in the same ballpark. However, the latest lineup of Dodge Durangos is in the all-star category. Compared to the 2022 Mazda CX-9, you can easily see which vehicle reigns supreme in terms of output.
Â
First, the Mazda CX-9 uses a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor. Paired with AWD and a 6-speed automatic transmission, it produces 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. No other motor options are offered for this crossover.
Â
On the other hand, the Dodge Durango is available with three powertrain options. The standard engine for the SXT, GT, and Citadel is the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6. Thanks to AWD and the 8-speed automatic transmission, it delivers 295 hp and 260lb-ft of torque. Next, the R/T and R/T Plus both house a larger 5.7-litre HEMI V8 that makes 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the magnanimous SRT 392 is fitted with a giant 6.4-litre HEMI V8 that churns out 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Every engine for the Durango offers a better performance that the one for the Mazda.
