Latest Nissan News For Seattle, Tacoma, And Bellevue Washington
nissan 370z dealer in seattle tacoma bellevue washingtonFor this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, Nissan returned to Las Vegas with not one, but five one-of-a-kind vehicles. We shared earlier about the Nissan Ultimate Service Titan and the Paws One Titan, but another car stole the show – the Project Clubsport 23.

Honoring the iconic 370Z, Nissan’s Project Clubsport 23 is an ongoing parts development platform built with the goal of creating a vehicle that owners can duplicate themselves using Nissan Motorsports or aftermarket parts.

Development of the car started with an older 370Z NISMO. Nissan replaced the original 350-horsepower 3.7-liter VQ37VHR engine with an all-new 3.0-liter VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 engine, which is rated at 400 horsepower. The suspension, steering, braking and cooling systems were also revamped, while custom body panels and a burnt orange body wrap were added to the exterior. Inside, a full roll cage and diamond-pattern upholstery are a cool, but contemporary throwback to the diamond pattern vinyl used in the original 240Z. All this rides on slick NISMO-branded RAYS cast aluminum-alloy 18x10.5-inch wheels and Hankook RS4 285/35R18 high-performance tires.

Want to get your hands on the Project Clubsport 23? Sadly, it’s not available for purchase. But, Nissan Motorsports has mentioned that (depending on consumer interest) they may offer a builder's kit that consists of hard parts and electrical components to allows enthusiasts the ability to build their own customized Z car. Is this something that interests you? Contact our team at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington, to inquire further.
nissan sports cars for sale in seattle washingtonAccording to an article out of the UK by Top Gear magazine, Nissan is looking to put electric powertrains in the next-generation GT-R and the next edition 370Z. In an interview with Nissan marketing executive, Jean-Pierre Diernaz, the automaker wants 40% of its European sales to consist of electric vehicles by 2022.

“I don’t see electrification and sports cars as technologies that are conflicting,” Diernaz is quoted as saying in the article. “Maybe it’s the other way around – sports cars can benefit lots from electrification. At the end of the day, a motor and battery are much easier to move from one platform to another, from one sub-segment to another, than a full internal combustion set-up.”

At this time, little more is known about the two models and whether electrification will make its way to the United States. In the article, Diernaz did assure Nissan sports car fans that the GT-R and 370Z will keep their essential characteristics, no matter what powertrains ultimately drive them. Some speculators have also suggested that Nissan is working on a joint venture with Mercedes-Benz on a successor to the current 370Z, which could see the availability of a hybrid powertrain in addition to 2.0-liter and 2.0-liter turbo engines.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of an electrified GT-R or 370Z? We’d love to know your opinion! Call or visit us at Kirkland Nissan in Seattle, Washington, where our inventories are stocked with current model year options for your test driving enjoyment.
