The adventurous, well-equipped 2018 Nissan Frontier recently ushered journalists and guests on the second leg of a fascinating archaeological and driving journey. While the first stage of the massive expedition began last September in Brazilâ€™s Serra do CipÃ³, the adventure now continues in PiauÃ, the site of one of the worldâ€™s greatest prehistoric rock art locations.

Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, PiauÃ is a natural wonder and the perfect candidate for Nissanâ€™s expedition. The 2018 Frontier safely ferried all guests across the backcountry, or â€œSertÃ£o," directly to where prehistoric rock art was created by South American inhabitants roughly 29,000 years ago. In total, the general area of Serra da Capivara National Park features 940 archaeological sites holding the aforementioned majesty, including a 50,000-year-old fire pit that represents the earliest traces of human activity in the region.

The 2018 Nissan Frontier is particularly equipped for this once-in-a-lifetime excursion. The rough-and-tumble truck is refreshed and enhanced for this new model year, offering all-wheel drive and a spectacular motor. The available 4.0L V6 engine is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and works to produce a stellar 261 horses and 281-lb.-ft. of torque.
