If you have been searching for a new SUV for a while now, then you may have noticed that some tend to be very similar spec-wise. Take the 2021 Dodge Durango and the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Each model offers the same powertrain lineup; however, the top-tier trims have different outputs. Which one is more powerful? The answer may surprise you!
Â
The Durango SRT Hellcat and the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk are both fitted with the d 6.2-litre HEMI V8 engine. Partnered with an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD, you might expect the numbers to be identical. But that isn’t the case.
Â
The SRT Hellcat delivers 710 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque, and the Trackhawk generates 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. While the difference is only 3 hp, the result is that the Durango is stronger and faster.
Â
On an acceleration course, the Durango was able to go from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and the Grand Cherokee came in at 3.5 seconds. In other words, it will win in a race every time.
